Canvas (Instructure)

Middle/high school assignments and grades

Find the missing assignment before the progress report does

It's Sunday night and your 8th grader swears everything is turned in. Canvas's calendar feed says the science lab is due tomorrow, and the assistant flagged it Thursday. Canvas publishes a calendar feed of assignments and due dates. Once it's on your family calendar, the assistant can build a Sunday-night "due this week" list for each kid, so homework doesn't surprise anyone at 9 PM.

Visit the Canvas (Instructure) website

What it handles for you

  • A Sunday "due this week" rundown per student, from the Canvas calendar feed
  • Tests and big projects flagged a few days ahead, not the night before
  • Optional nudges you can forward to your kid, in your words

Set it up, step by step

No tech experience needed. Take it one step at a time.

What you’ll need

  • The app account you already use
  • Your family calendar (Google, Apple or Outlook)
  • About 10 minutes

Steps

  1. Sign in to Canvas (Instructure) on the website or app, the same way you normally do.
  2. Open the app’s Settings, Calendar or Schedule area and look for words like “Subscribe,” “Sync calendar,” “Export” or “iCal.”
  3. Copy the calendar link it gives you. It usually starts with webcal:// or https://.
  4. Open your family calendar and choose “Add calendar” then “From URL” (or “Subscribe”). Paste the link and save.
  5. Wait a few minutes, then check that a few Canvas (Instructure) events appear on your calendar.
  6. Tell Grok Bot: “Watch my Canvas (Instructure) calendar and warn me about changes.”
Stuck? Try this: No calendar link anywhere? Search the app’s help pages for “calendar sync.” Some programs only offer it on the website, not the phone app.

How Grok Bot connects

Calendar sync: the app publishes a calendar link (often called a feed, subscribe link or iCal link). Once that link is added to your family calendar, Grok Bot reads the events from there.
